Some information in this section is from the US Department of Energy website (http://www.eere.energy.gov/afdc/).
The Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC) is an online
collection of data, including more than 3000 documents and several
interactive tools covering the topics of alternative transportation
fuels, alternative fuel vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, idle
reduction technologies, fuel blends, and fuel economy. The AFDC is
sponsored by the U. S. Department of Energy's Clean Cities and Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPAct) fleet programs.
The AFDC contains a wide range of research documents and associated
outreach materials—technical reports, brochures, newsletters, and press
releases—produced by government, industry, and academic sources. Among
the contributors are the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of
Transportation, Environmental Protection Agency, trade associations,
professional societies, auto manufacturers, fuel providers, and
universities. In addition, the AFDC provides access to online tools,
including an alternative fuels station locator and route mapper,
current lists of available alternative fuel vehicles, online
decision-making tools, and links to related Web sites.
The AFDC was developed in 1991 in response to the Alternative Motor
Fuels Act of 1988 and the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990. Since that
time, the AFDC has provided key information in support of the Energy
Policy Act of 1992 and the Clean Cities portfolio. |
