- Honda's "Super Clean" Diesel Engine
Honda Motor Co. recently announced that it has developed the first diesel passenger car to meet California's 2009 air quality standards. The "Super Clean" diesel emissions will be no greater then that of a gasoline powered engine according to Honda. This appears to put Honda ahead of the pact in the race for cleaner and more efficient vehicles.
- Crash Ratings
Beginning next year all vehicles sold in U.S.dealerships will be required to have safety displays. It will cover 2008 models and must be on all vehicles no later then Sept. 1, 2007. They will have the government's 5 star system that will include data on front and side crash protection and also roll over risk. According to Sen. - Automotive Environmental Index
New for this year, in their 2006 Alternative Powertrain Study (APS), JD Power and Associates released the results of their first Automotive Environmental Index (AEI). The AEI is comprised of EPA information combined with "voice-of-the-customer" data relating to fuel economy, air pollution and green house gases.
