CLEANER, LEANER, AND GREENER
CLEANER, LEANER, AND GREENER: TOYOTA OFFERS A SELECTION OF HIGHER-MILEAGE, LOWER-EMISSION VEHICLES
As evidenced by the popular Prius gas-electric hybrid, Highlander
Hybrid and Camry Hybrid, Toyota has always strived to manufacture
vehicles that achieve industry-leading fuel economy and low emissions
while providing customers with the products they want at prices they
can afford. Some of Toyota’s fuel efficiency and low emissions
highlights include:
Fuel Economy
• The EPA’s 2006 Fuel Economy Guide places Toyota cars, trucks, SUVs,
station wagons, and minivans in the top ten of more EPA vehicle
categories than any other brand. Additionally, the sum of Toyota
vehicles in the top ten of all EPA categories is greater than those of
any other maker. Ratings are based on EPA estimated city mileage, and
actual mileage may vary. Toyota and Scion vehicles hold the number one
position in the Midsize Car, Subcompact Car, and Small Station Wagon
categories for gasoline-powered vehicles.
• Toyota has always exceeded CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy)
standards, even while growing into a full-line manufacturer, and will
continue to do so. All of our engines feature efficient overhead-cam,
multi-valve systems; electronically-controlled fuel-injection systems;
most are made from lightweight aluminum and about two-thirds employ
variable-valve timing.
Low Emissions
• All Toyota/Lexus 2006 vehicles sold will be CARB (California Air
Resources Board)-certified as Low Emission Vehicles (LEV) or better and
75% will be Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (ULEV).
• For the sixth consecutive year, Toyota cars, trucks, and SUVs appear
in more vehicle categories than any other brand in “The Best of ” list
published by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy
(ACEEE). In “The Best of 2006,” Toyota vehicles are included in ten of
fourteen categories, including Compact, Subcompact, and Midsize Cars;
Compact and Standard Pickups; and Compact, Midsize, and Large SUVs.
• In addition, more Toyota and Scion vehicles than those of any other
automaker appear in “The Best of 2006,” and four of the twelve vehicles
on ACEEE’s “Greener Choices of 2006” are Toyota models. These lists
plus more information on greener cars can be seen at greenercars.com.
ACEEE rates vehicles using published EPA and California Air Resources
Board (CARB) data, plus calculations of emissions in multiple
categories, including greenhouse gases.
Whether customers are avid environmentalists or they’re looking to save
some money at the gas pumps, Toyota has the vehicles to meet their
needs.
